“Terri's Barefoot Country” Karaoke Contest

2009 Rules and Regulations
1. Eligibility:
A. Solo contestants Only. (Duets and groups do not qualify).
B. Neither employees of “Barefoot Country”, the judges nor their family members are eligible to participate in
the contest.
C. All previous 1st place winners are not eligible to participate. Second and third place may.
D. Contestants may be any age (under 16 must have parent’s permission and accompaniment)
E. Each contestant will be required to pay a $10.00 entry fee each time they enter
F. Each $10.00 entry fee entitles contestant to sing two songs.
2. Contestant Order:
A. Contestants will appear in the order in which they enter.
3. Judging: The following criterion is a suggested guideline to be followed in all levels of competition.
A. Judges: there will be a minimum of three judges at all contests. Each judging ballot will be anonymous.
(Each category is worth 10 points maximum, 30 points maximum possible from each judge)
i. Vocal Ability: (10 Points)
ii. Entertainment Value: This includes not only costuming, dancing, etc., but also how well the contestant sells the song. This category is very important, as it allows charisma and showmanship equal importance with singing ability. (10 Points)
iii. Audience Response: This score is to be determined during and immediately after the contestant’s performance only. (10 Points)
B. The judges score sheets and tally sheets will be available (under supervision) for 15 minutes after the winners are announced, for any contestant to review.
C. “Barefoot Country” reserves the right to disqualify any contestant or judge if any of the aforementioned rules and criteria are felt to be violated.
4. Song Selection:
A. A contestant may select any song from the “Barefoot Country” karaoke library available at each contest.
B. Any songs outside of this library must be provided by the contestant.
C. Two or more contestants may sing the same song.
5. Advancement to the Finals:
A. In the event of a tie, Vocal Ability scores will determine the winner. In the unlikely event that this still produces a tie, the Audience Response scores will be used and finally Entertainment Value scores will determine the winner. If this still produces a tie the prize money will be split.
6. The Judges “decisions” are final and are not subject to appeal.
